ID Theft Insurance is one of ExpressVPN’s Identity Defender services that aims to further improve users’ privacy. It reimburses you for eligible losses if your identity is fraudulently used by someone else. Coverage is provided by American Bankers Insurance Company of Florida, an Assurant company. The Identity Fraud Expense Reimbursement benefit is underwritten and administered by American Bankers Insurance Company of Florida, an Assurant company, under group or blanket policies issued to Policyholder or its respective affiliates for the benefit of its Members. How to get ID Theft Insurance

Currently, new ExpressVPN users in the U.S. can subscribe to ID Theft Insurance.

Existing ExpressVPN users in the U.S. (who signed up before Oct. 28, 2024) do not yet have access to ID Theft Insurance, but we will be rolling it out to them soon. Availability for other regions will be confirmed later.

  1. Go to the Order page and choose an ExpressVPN plan. ID Theft Insurance is included in the two-year and one-year plans. If you prefer a different plan, you may add ID Alerts for a fee on the next step.
  2. Press the button on the plan to proceed.
  3. If ID Theft Insurance is not included in your plan, you may add it by ticking the box under Optional add-on services.
  4. Complete your order by entering your email address and payment details.

How to set up and use ID Theft Insurance

You may set up ID Theft Insurance in the ExpressVPN mobile apps for iOS or Android or on your ExpressVPN Account page.

  1. If you are using the mobile app, tap the Upgrades tab on the bottom of the app screen. If you are using the ExpressVPN website, go to your Account page, where you’ll be prompted to log into your account, if you aren’t already signed in.
  2. Select ID Theft Insurance.
  3. You’ll be prompted to enter your personal information.
  4. Select Continue. Your insurance is now active.

How to cancel ID Theft Insurance

To cancel your Data Removal subscription, stop automatic renewal for the add-on by contacting ExpressVPN’s Support team. (If you are on the two-year plan, you may turn off auto-renewal on the My Subscription page to cancel all services within your ExpressVPN account, including ID Theft Insurance.)

Note: You may cancel ID Theft Insurance without canceling ExpressVPN. However, you cannot cancel ExpressVPN without canceling ID Theft Insurance.
